Balotelli

According to The Daily Star, Manchester United have opened contract talks with injured defender Luke Shaw; whilst The Metro report that Jurgen Klopp wants to bring striker flop Mario Balotelli back to Liverpool.

The prodigious left-back has been out of action since September after suffering a double leg break during a Champions League clash with PSV. But the Red Devils are keen to cement his future at Old Trafford and have reportedly opened talks over an improved contract.

According to The Daily Star, who cite Football Insider, the new deal will see the 20-year-old pick up £154k per week for the next five-and-a-half-years – with the option of a one-year extension.

Meanwhile, The Metro report that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to bring £16million flop Mario Balotelli back to Anfield.

After scoring just one Premier League goal during his debut campaign on Merseyside and finding himself excluded from Brendan Rodgers’ match day squads for much of the season, the Italy international was loaned back to former club AC Milan last summer.

But agent Mino Raiola revealed earlier this month that he would enter talks with Klopp over Balotelli’s future and according to The Metro – who site TuttoMercatoWeb – they’ve now taken place. The discussions have been described as ‘productive’, with all parties agreeing that the 25-year-old should return to his parent club next season.

Balotelli has managed just two Serie A starts for AC Milan this term, scoring once, after being ruled out for three months with a groin injury in September.
