Earlier this month, The Sun revealed that Manchester United are targeting the 29-year-old – son of Red Devils legend Peter Schmeichel – as a potential replacement for David De Gea, should Real Madrid revive their long-term interest in the Spain goalkeeper.
But it appears Schmeichel junior is on Liverpool’s radar as well, with the Merseyside club reportedly launching an inquiry into his availability despite recently handing current No.1 Simon Mignolet a five-year contract.

Mirror Football report that the King Power Stadium outfit will not let the 6 foot 1 shot-stopper leave the club under any circumstances this month.
But with the Reds expected to revive their interest and De Gea potentially heading for the Bernabeu next summer, we could see the two northwest rivals scrap over Schmeichel’s services at the end of the season. His Leicester City contract expires in 2018.
