According to reports from The Daily Mail, Everton are the latest club to have ‘checked on’ Liverpool, Manchester United and West Ham strike target Islam Slimani.
The Algeria international, who netted for his country against South Korea at the 2014 World Cup, has bagged 46 goals in 92 appearances for current employers Sporting Lisbon since signing from Belouizdad in summer 2013.
That includes a potent return of 21 goals across all competitions this season, which has seen a variety of Premier League clubs linked with the 27-year-old over the last few months.
The Daily Mail claim Liverpool, Manchester United and West Ham all scouted the 6 foot 1 striker during a 3-1 win over Pacos Ferreira last Saturday, whilst English top flight rivals Crystal Palace and Sunderland have also been mooted as potential suitors by the British newspaper.
Everton are the latest club to join the race for his signature after launching an enquiry last weekend, but Slimani’s price-tag remains a potential stumbling block. His contract includes a £22.5million release clause, set to expire during the summer, and Sporting are unlikely to settle for much less.
