According to reports from The Daily Mail, Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Premier League rivals Manchester City.
The Serbian international is now into his eighth campaign at Stamford Bridge but underwhelming performances this season have cast serious doubts over his future in west London, especially with his contract set to expire in the summer.
Reports from earlier this week claimed the 31-year-old had agreed the terms of a one-year contract that also included a twelve-month extension clause based on the number of appearances he makes next season.

But the right-back-come-centre-half hasn’t signed on the dotted line just yet and The Daily Mail claim Ivanovic would prefer a two-term deal, but knows it’s unlikely due to Chelsea’s infamous over 30s policy.
And the British newspaper now allege that Premier League rivals Manchester City have asked to be kept informed of any developments regarding the defender’s future – in the hope of luring him to the Etihad in a cut-price deal or potentially a free transfer next summer.
The Bosman-bound veteran is believed to have already received two-year contract offers from AC Milan and Fiorentina.
