According to reports from Mirror Football, Chelsea are confident of beating Liverpool to the signing Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira.
The in-form Brazilian has bagged 26 goals in as many appearances for the Ukrainian outfit this season, including three strikes in the Champions League, and was first linked with a Stamford Bridge switch back in October.

Teixeira later confirmed that he’d received an offer from the Premier League champions, making a January move to Stamford Bridge seemingly inevitable. But as talks stalled earlier this week, Liverpool suddenly emerged as rival contenders in the race to sign the attacking midfielder with an approach of their own.
A Reds delegation including chief executive Ian Ayre flew out to Florida this week, where Shakhtar are playing in the Florida Cup, to officially table a £23million bid.

But according to Mirror Football, the Blues remain confident of signing the 25-year-old after seeing the Reds’ offer turned down. They’re hoping to conclude a deal worth around £30million, although other sources have suggested Shakhtar want £39million for their talismanic goalscorer.
