Out - Marouane Fellaini

According to The Express, Marouane Fellaini’s agent will meet AC Milan this week to discuss a £19million transfer; whilst BBC Sport report that Simon Mignolet has signed a new contract at Liverpool.

Despite a string of impressive displays during Louis van Gaal’s first season at Old Trafford, Belgium international Fellaini has been issued just eleven starts across all competitions this term and often been criticised for underwhelming performances.

AC Milan were linked with a loan bid earlier this month but Manchester United are believed to want a permanent deal to the value of £20million – a sum the Serie A outfit are reluctant to pay.

But according to The Express, who cite Italian publication Calcio Mercato, the 28-year-old’s agent Luciano D’Onofrio will meet with AC Milan joint-CEO Adriano Galliani later this week to see if an agreement can be made over a move to the San Siro.

Meanwhile, BBC Sport report that Simon Mignolet has signed a five-year contract with Liverpool.

The Belgium international has claimed the most clean sheets of any Premier League goalkeeper during 2015 – an impressive 15 – but his Reds career has been plagued by a series of costly individual errors. A TIF poll exclusively revealed in December that 77% of Liverpool supporters want manager Jurgen Klopp to sign a replacement next summer.

But the German gaffer has only praised the 27-year-old since taking the Anfield reigns in October and rumours of a lengthy contract extension emerged last month. As reported by the Beeb, Mignolet has now signed a new deal that will keep him on Merseyside until summer 2021.

Upon signing the contract, the 27-year-old told the club’s official website;”I am the sort of character that wants to be a leader, wants to speak in the dressing room and help the defence. I know signing a new contract comes with new responsibility. I am getting older as well and coming into the years where people would say those are the years a goalkeeper is at his best.

“I will try to work hard together with the goalkeeping coach and staff here, who are behind me and have given their confidence with a new contract. I would like to thank them for that but you can’t really do that with words, you have to do that with performances on the pitch. That is what I will try to show.”
