Lavezzi

According to reports from The Express, the agent of PSG star Ezequiel Lavezzi has revealed his client would prefer to return to Serie A than move to the Premier League when his contract expires next summer.

The Argentina international, who started for his country in last summer’s World Cup final against Germany, has bagged 34 goals in 156 appearances for the Parisians, helping fire them to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles.

But the winger-forward’s game-time has continually declined over the last few years and he’s been issued just three league starts by Laurent Blanc this season – the most recent being all the way back in October.

The 30-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and he’s already revealed this will likely be his final campaign at Parc de Princes, stating in September; “I think it’s my last year in Paris. But I’m okay and I want to finish it the best way possible.”

Arsenal and Liverpool are both known admirers of the former Napoli star and have been linked with him continuously over the last few transfer windows. This Is Futbol last reported on their interest in October.

But in a bitter blow to the transfer hopes of the Premier League duo, Lavezzi’s agent has revealed that a return to Serie A at the end of his contract is far more likely than a move to England.

As quoted by The Express, agent Alejandro Mazzoni told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli; “Between Italy and England, Lavezzi would choose Italy. He misses Italian football a lot and he wants to go back to Italy. President [Aurelio] De Laurentiis was clear that he didn’t want his return to Napoli. Right now we can’t speculate on a turn of mind, but we’ll see. Napoli loves El Pocho, I can see that from social media too.”

He went on to suggest that the South American could sign for Serie A champions Juventus, stating; “I know that supporters would be surprised to see him wearing the Juventus colours, but he still has two-three years of great football in his legs and he wants to play at the highest levels.”
