The jury’s still out on whether Simon Mignolet has what it takes to be a No.1 goalkeeper at a club as big as Liverpool, which says quite a lot considering he’s now served almost two-and-a-half seasons between the Anfield sticks.
On the one hand, the Belgium international’s statistics are impressive; he’d made the most saves of any Premier League goalkeeper in the last four seasons prior to the current campaign and last term racked up the joint-most clean sheets, 14, alongside Manchester City’s Joe Hart.

Yet individual errors and panicked passing have often let the 27-year-old down, so many assumed relatively fresh managerial appointment Jurgen Klopp would spend his first campaign at the Anfield helm looking out for a replacement No.1.
But the Reds boss has only spoken highly of Mignolet, whilst reports earlier this month revealed the club have entered contract talks with their controversial star – as reported by The Guardian.
