According to reports from Corriere di Bologna via Football Italia, Chelsea and Manchester City have both seen €20million bids rejected for Bologna prodigy Amadou Diawara. 

The Blues were first linked with the 18-year-old last month, reportedly viewing him as a potential understudy to struggling defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic, whilst Manchester City’s interest has been documented more recently.

The Guinea-born enforcer has certainly impressed for Bologna this season, averaging 1.8 tackles and 2.3 interceptions from his 15 Serie A appearances whilst recording an 82% pass completion rate.

And that strong form has reportedly convinced Diawara’s Premier League admirers to launch rival €20million bids, which works out at around £14.5million.

But despite previous reports suggesting it had already been agreed that the youngster would move to Stamford Bridge, Corriere di Bolognia claim City and Chelsea have seen their lucrative offers turned down.

The Stadio Dall’Ara outfit are desperate to hold onto Diawara and may not even let him leave next summer when admirers will undoubtedly come calling once again.

They’re set to meet with his representatives with an improved contract likely to be discussed.
