Adrien Rabiot

According to reports from Telefoot and The Daily Mail, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Adrien Rabiot has requested to leave PSG on loan in January.

The 6 foot 2 defensive midfielder is one of French football’s most exciting prospects, having claimed 47 youth caps for France and made nearly 100 appearances for PSG at just 20 years of age.

Mother and agent Veronique Rabiot reportedly made a transfer request on her son’s behalf during the summer due to a lack of game-time and although the France U21 has received a better share of first team action this season – making eight league starts out of a possible 17 this season alongside two Champions League outings – it appears Rabiot is still unhappy with his role in Laurent Blanc’s senior squad.

As quoted by The Daily Mail and Telefoot, he said in an extended interview with French publication L’Equipe; “I’ve asked the president for a loan move in January if my time on the field is insufficient. It’s something that he can’t refuse me – I know he likes me very much.”

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United were linked with the three-time Ligue 1 winner earlier this month, whilst AC Milan, Inter Milan and Roma represent interest from Serie A. It remains to be seen if they’ll be interested in taking on Rabiot temporarily for the rest of the season, with all six clubs believed to be keen on a permanent deal.

But the Gunners’ ongoing injury crisis, with midfield partnership Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin ruled out until at least February, could convince Arsene Wenger to sign the prodigious midfielder on loan.
