Left Back - Alberto Moreno

According to reports from The Daily Star, Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno would welcome interest from Real Madrid; whilst Mundo Deportivo claim Atletico Madrid could activate a release clause to bring Chelsea’s Diego Costa back to Vincente Calderon.

A recent injury to Marcelo has highlighted Los Blancos’ need for a deputy left-back and Liverpool’s Moreno was mentioned as a potential target in the Spanish press last week.

The 23-year-old hasn’t always been a guaranteed starter at Anfield and began the season behind summer signing Joe Gomez in the pecking order. But having previously won the Europa League title with Sevilla and represented La Roja on three occasions, Moreno’s stock remains high in Spain.

And agent Javier Moya has told radio station Radio 4G that the young defender would welcome interest from the Bernabeu. As quoted by The Daily Star, he said; “If Real Madrid were to make an offer that would make him really happy, but Liverpool would have to take the first step. If a team as important as Real Madrid were to speak with us and Liverpool were satisfied with the operation, we would talk.

“He’s getting to know another culture and playing in one of the most important leagues. And, above all, he’s in the first team. Inquiring about an important player is logical, that is normal. Important teams from Spain and other places are asking. It’s difficult.”

Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo claim that Atletico Madrid could look to capitalise on the ambiguity surrounding Diego Costa’s future at Chelsea by triggering a €28million release clause.

More details are needed, but it’s assumed the clause was included in the deal that saw the Spain international move to Stamford Bridge in summer 2014, after firing the Mattress Makers to the La Liga title during his final campaign at Vincente Calderon.

The idea of the 27-year-old returning to his club is nothing new and has been speculated on for some time. But the latest reports come in the context of Chelsea reportedly reviewing Costa’s future at in west London after finding just four goals in his first 17 appearances of the season and seemingly falling out with manager Jose Mourinho.
