Over the last few weeks, Simon Mignolet’s future as Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper has been the subject of much debate.
Sky Sports revealed on Tuesday that the Belgium international has been the most error-prone goalkeeper in the Premier League since moving to Anfield at a cost of £9million in summer 2013, making eight individual errors directly leading to goals, along with a series of equally troubling statistics.
He’s also conceded the third-most league goals of any goalkeeper in that time period – a whopping 110 – and is ranked 18th out of 31 for save success rate at 67.6%.

But manager Jurgen Klopp has only praised the 27-year-old since taking the managerial reins at Anfield in October, describing him as “one of the smartest” goalkeepers he’s ever worked with and insisting Liverpool aren’t looking for a replacement, and he’s now reportedly close to agreeing a contract extension on Merseyside.
So This Is Futbol decided to open the debate to Liverpool fans last week, launching a poll asking the simple question; Should Liverpool replace Simon Mignolet next summer?
Well, the votes have been counted and the results are in, and This Is Futbol can exclusively reveal that 77% of Liverpool fans who took our poll believe the club should replace their controversial No.1 next summer. Perhaps Klopp should put those contract talks on the back-burner for now.
