According to reports from The Daily Star, Manchester United have joined Liverpool in the race to sign PSG starlet Odsonne Edouard.

The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the Parisians’ most exciting youth products, having bagged eight goals in just five appearances as France lifted the U17 European Championship May – including a hat-trick against Germany.

Liverpool scouts watched the forward in action at the tournament and once again during a UEFA Youth League outing in October, in no small part due to the intriguingly slow pace of negotiations over professional terms at Parc de Princes.

But according to The Daily Star, who cite reports from ClubCall, Edouard’s contract situation appears to have caught the attention of Manchester United as well. Their scouts ran the rule over the teenage prospect as he bagged a brace in a 5-2 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Youth League last week.

Available for a nominal compensation fee as it would count as an international transfer under FIFA rules, both Premier League clubs will be eager to snap up Edouard if he fails to agree a senior contract with PSG.
