Pep Guardiola

According to reports from The Daily Mail, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United management target Pep Guardiola will announce plans to step down as Bayern Munich boss next week.

The former Barcelona gaffer, who won two Champions League titles during his four years at the Nou Camp, has continually refused to give an answer on his future at the Allianz Arena despite his contract expiring at the end of the season.

But he told reporters after the Bavarians’ 1-0 win over Darmstadt on Tuesday; “Tonight, I have no answer. Next week there will be clarity,” and The Daily Mail believe that is when Guardiola will reveal his decision to step down.

That points to a scramble for his services between Manchester City and Manchester United next summer. The Citizens have been courting the Spaniard for the last three years, whilst rumours of United’s interest have escalated since their Champions League elimination at the hands of Wolfsburg last week.

The Mail also moot Chelsea as potential suitors amid understandable doubts over Jose Mourinho’s future at Stamford Bridge. Reports from BBC Sport this morning revealed that the Blues board have already held discussions over whether the struggling Portuguese should be sacked, as the reigning champions find themselves in 16th place with just 15 points after 16 games.
