Andros Townsend

According to reports from Mirror Football, Tottenham Hotspur want £14million for out-of-favour winger Andros Townsend.

The England international hasn’t featured for Mauricio Pochettino’s side since a Europa League defeat to Anderlecht in October and is desperate to improve his chances of regular first-team football ahead of next summer’s European Championships.

The 24-year-old, who boasts three goals and ten caps for the Three Lions, certainly isn’t short of admirers with Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Watford and West Bromwich Albion all reportedly courting his services ahead of the January transfer window.

But Spurs chairman Daniel Levy won’t entertain the notion of a loan move and is adamant any suitor must meet the club’s £14million valuation – rather steep considering Townsend’s seen just 64 minutes’ worth of action in the Premier League this season.

Curiously, The Independent suggest Sunderland may have just coughed up that hefty sum, with their reports claiming the Black Cats have ‘won the race’ for the wide man’s signature.
