According to reports from Mirror Football, Arsenal are preparing a £8million bid for West Ham United prodigy Reece Oxford.
The 16-year-old earned rave reviews for his impressive performance against the Gunners on the opening day of the season, helping the Hammers record a shock 2-0 win at the Emirates during his senior debut.
But the 6 foot 3 teenager, who has represented England an impressive 17 times at U17 level, was hauled off at half-time during West Ham’s following fixture against Leicester City and hasn’t featured for the club’s first team since an eight-minute substitute outing against Liverpool in August.
That lack of game-time has reportedly prompted Manchester United to revive their long-term interest in Oxford as they consider a £8million bid. But Mirror Football claim Premier League title rivals Arsenal are also interested in taking the frustrated prodigy off the Irons’ hands and could launch an offer of their own – also worth £8million.
The defender-come-midfielder is widely expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract upon turning 17 later this month, however, meaning any move will have to wait until the summer transfer window.
