According to reports from Calcio Mercato, Valencia would rather let contract rebel Sofiane Feghouli leave for free next summer than sell him during the January transfer window.

Due to his contract expiring at the end of the season, a number of top European clubs have taken an interest in the 25-year-old winger in recent weeks.

At the end of last month, scouts from Inter Milan, Chelsea and Manchester United watched the Algeria winger in action during a 3-0 win over Malaga, whilst Tottenham Hotspur are expected to meet Feghouli’s agent to ‘present a firm proposal and a sketch of what would become his contract’ at White Hart Lane within the next few weeks.

Manchester United’s interest coincides with reports of Louis van Gaal intending to sign another winger in January, having told reporters after a 2-0 victory over West Brom last Saturday; “You have seen that now we play with Jesse Lingard and he is not the most speedy winger in the world and Mata is also not the most speedy winger in the world. So first we must first finish that problem and then we can see how we have to play and how we are in balance with playing with speedy wingers.”

But according to Calcio Mercato, Valencia have no intention of selling the African wide man in January, even if it means losing him on a free transfer next summer. In fact, they’ve already turned down a €4million bid from Roberto Mancini’s Inter Milan.

The Italian publication does claim, however, that Feghoul has ‘no intention of renewing his €1.6million per year contract’ with Los Che, suggesting he’s already got one eye on a move for summer 2016.
