According to reports from Goal this evening, Manchester United have completed the signing of promising youngster DJ Buffonge on a scholarship contract.

The 17-year-old, whose full name is Darren Raekwon McIntosh-Buffonge, has been described as ‘a creative midfielder who is very comfortable when in possession of the ball’.

He had previously represented Premier League rivals Arsenal at academy level but left the Emirates outfit in 2010 and joined Fulham’s youth ranks instead.

The teenager has trained with the Red Devils on a trial basis since the start of the season and although he’s been sidelined with a groin injury from the end of August onwards, sustained in a 3-2 win over Derby County, Buffonge has shown enough promise to earn himself a scholarship contract at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Manchester United are preparing for two tricky visits in the Premier League this weekend, traveling to relegation-battlers West Bromwich Albion and Watford respectively.
