Josh Windass

According to reports from Sky Sports, Accrington Stanley boss John Coleman has ruled out selling Arsenal target Josh Windass during the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old is the son of Hull City legend Dean Windass, who famously fired the Tigers to the Premier League with a sensational volley in the 2008 Championship playoff final.

He’s proved quite the force in League Two, bagging 14 goals from midfield since his debut in 2013 – including a potent return of eight in 16 this season.

Clubs from the higher divisions have taken a keen interest in Windass, most notably Arsenal, Brighton, Fulham and Hull City, with the Gunners believed to be leading the charge for his signature.

Due to his contract expiring at the end of the season, it was thought that the Premier League title challengers would look to sign him for around £1million in January.

But Accrington Stanley boss John Coleman has insisted the club won’t be accepting any offers for any of their players in the coming transfer window.

As quoted by Sky Sports, he told the club’s official website; “We will be taking no bids in January. It’s a compliment to Josh that he is getting mentioned as he is playing well but, while he is getting the attention, it means other players who are playing well are sneaking under the radar and that suits us.

“There was talk of £1million but the fact is, if we do sell a player at any time, the money will go into the ground and not to me. So it’s immaterial to me whether we sell in January or June, but I can say no one is going out in January.”
