According to Italian publication Gazzetta Dello Sport, Chelsea are targeting Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic; whilst The Daily Mail report that Manchester United youngster James Wilson is set to join Brighton on loan.
Kalinic is perhaps best known by Premier League fans for his rather fruitless spell at Blackburn Rovers. He netted just seven league goals in 44 league appearances during two seasons at Ewood Park and was sold to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in summer 2011.
But the Croatian international has resurrected his career somewhat since and is currently enjoying arguably the best form of his career at Fiorentina, netting nine times in 12 Serie A appearances since joining the Viola ranks in the summer.
Gazzetta Dello Sport claims the 27-year-old’s potent form has attracted interest from Chelsea, who are looking for a January addition to their strike-force that isn’t cup-tied in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, The Daily Mail claims James Wilson is on the verge of joining Brighton as the emergency loan window draws to a close.
Despite Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial finding just five Premier League goals between them, the 19-year-old striker has seen just eight minutes’ worth of top-flight action this season and was an unused substitute as Manchester United endured a scoreless draw with PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
He’s now set to join Brighton on loan, who are currently second in the Championship and yet to lose a league fixture. But the loan deadline was at 5pm this afternoon and we are still waiting for confirmation that the clubs agreed a deal in time.
