Manchester United have scored 15 goals in their first nine Premier League fixtures this term, ranking them in a respectable fifth throughout the division.
Yet the Red Devils’ two main sources of goals, strikers Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney, are by no means the most reliable.
The former has started his Old Trafford career with a bang but it seems inevitable his strike-rate will dry up over the course of the season, whilst the latter’s struggle for form – especially in front of goal – appears set to continue for a little longer.
But the slowly looming January transfer window gives United a fantastic change to improve the weaknesses within their squad and accordingly, their Premier League title credentials. Louis van Gaal certainly has the finance at his disposal to do so, as proved during the summer.
