According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, Arsenal will revive their interest in Sevilla enforcer Grzegorz Krychowiak when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Poland international was in superlative form last season, averaging 3.3 tackles, 3 interceptions and 3.4 successful aerial duels per match to earn a place in La Liga’s Team of the Year, whilst helping Sevilla claim a second consecutive Europa League title.

He’s started the current campaign equally brightly, averaging the second-most interceptions per-match, 6, of any player in the Champions League this season, but has cast doubts over his long-term future at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan by rejecting a new contract that would have increased his release clause from £21million to £33million earlier this month.

Manchester City were linked with the 25 year-old last week, with Manuel Pellegrini allegedly shortlisting him as a potential recruit for summer 2016. But Arsenal have been monitoring Krychowiak’s availability since the end of last season and were making ‘firm inquiries‘ until the final week of the summer transfer window, according to reports from Spain.

Citing Spanish publication Fichajes, The Daily Star now claim the Gunners are ready to return for the 6 foot 1 enforcer in January – in what would be a significant boost to their Premier League title bid. The north London outfit are currently in second place, separated from table-toppers Manchester City by goal difference alone.
