Sadio Mane

According to reports from The Telegraph this afternoon, Manchester United will have to double their summer bid for Sadio Mane if they want to sign the speedy Southampton star.

The Senegal international was linked with an Old Trafford switch during the summer following an incredibly promising debut campaign at St. Mary’s. He netted ten times in 30 Premier League appearances last term – including a three-minute hat-trick against Aston Villa in May.

According to reports from earlier this month, manager Louis van Gaal has ‘insisted’ the Red Devils revive their interest in the 23 year-old following his impressive start to the season, claiming two goals and four assists in nine league appearances before this weekend’s round of fixtures.

Likewise, Mane’s instrumental performance during a 3-1 win over Chelsea before the international break highlighted his potential to play at a higher level and influence big games.

But according to The Telegraph, United will now have to double their summer bid, believed to be worth around £20million, if they want to sign the African attacker.

One Saints supporter meanwhile, exclaimed at a fans forum this week that the club that United can pay £50million or ‘get stuffed’.
