Berahino

According to reports from The Express yesterday afternoon, Manchester United have ‘shortlisted’ West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino ahead of a potential bidding war with Tottenham Hotspur in January.

The Baggies front-man was linked with both clubs during the final weeks of the summer transfer window and infamously took to Twitter after a late £25million White Hart Lane move fell through, claiming he’d ‘never play for [chairman] Jeremy Peace‘ again.

But the 22 year-old’s return of three goals in seven Premier League appearances this season has continued to turn heads, sustaining the impressive one-in-two strike rate he generated last term from 14 goals in 38 outings.

Citing reports from Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb, The Express claim both Spurs and United could launch bids for the England U21 when the transfer reopens in January.

The Red Devils have ‘shortlisted’ him in Louis van Gaal’s attempts to source competition for Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial, whilst Tottenham want more cover in the attacking positions – especially following recent injuries to Heung Min Son and Nacer Chadli.
