According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed he intends to do more business during the January transfer window.

The Red Devils spent over £110million in the summer, acquiring the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial to take the Dutchman’s spending beyond the £250million mark since being appointed Old Trafford gaffer in 2014.

But van Gaal has not so subtly hinted to the Red Devils hierarchy that he wants to continue adding new recruits when the transfer window reopens in January.

He revealed last week that his squad is still one player short, claiming; “I think 22 players and three goalkeepers is enough so I am still one short,” and according to The Daily Star, the United boss has once again stressed that he intends to splash the cash in the new year.

They quote him as saying; “I have already said, in the transfer period, I could not buy every player I want and that’s also because of the market. I have said that we need creative, speedy players in attack. You have seen which players I have bought; I like that profile, but we need more.”

Some recent targets who fall into that category include West Brom’s Saido Berahino, Sadio Mane of Southampton and Valencia’s Sofiane Feghouli.
