Ever Banega

According to reports from Manchester Evening News, Manchester City are targeting Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega.

The 27 year-old has made 49 appearances since joining the ranks at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in summer 2014 but boasts prior history in La Liga, previously spending seven seasons with divisional rivals Valencia.

The Argentina international has been linked with a Premier League move before – particularly to Manchester United – and appears to be attracting interest from the English top flight once again after a strong start to the season.

The playmaking midfielder has averaged 1.8 tackles, 1.4 shots, 1.4 created chances and 2 successful dribbles per match from his five La Liga outings but it’s Banega’s Champions League form that has caught City’s eye.

Citing reports from The Sun, Manchester Evening News claim the Etihad outfit’s interest stems from the South American’s impressive showing against them in Europe’s top tournament last week.

City have also been linked with team mate Grzegorz Krychowiak, but Banega represents the significantly cheaper option with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
