According to reports from Mirror Football this afternoon, Manchester United centre-back target Aymeric Laporte has agreed to join Barcelona in a £35million deal.
The Athletic Bilbao prodigy is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents the Spanish top flight has to offer, having already registered 119 competitive appearances for the Basque outfit at just 21 years of age.
He was linked with a host of Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window – most particularly Arsenal and Manchester United – and has produced strong form yet again this season, averaging 2.3 tackles, 3.3 interceptions and 2.7 successful aerial duels per match from six La Liga outings.
According to Mirror Football, however, the Red Devils have received a monumental blow in their pursuit of the France U21, who has now agreed to join fellow suitors Barcelona instead.
They claim the deal is worth £35million – essentially, Laporte’s release clause – and that it will take place in summer 2016.
