According to reports from talkSPORT this afternoon, Chelsea are considering a January swoop for Boca Juniors star Jonathan Calleri.

The 5 foot 10 striker is just 22 years of age but has reportedly recorded an incredibly impressive 20 goals and eleven assists for the South American outfit this season.

In September, Spanish publication Fichajes revealed that Arsenal are in the running to sign the prodigious Argentine, along with Serie A sides Napoli and Palermo. It follows reports from The Metro in March, claiming the Gunners had made an ‘official offer’ ahead of the summer transfer window.

But according to talkSPORT, who cite TyC Sports, Chelsea have also entered the race to sign the young front-man.

The Blues’ strike-force has certainly been found wanting this term, with Diego Costa, Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy finding just three Premier League goals between them from a combined nine starts.

Furthermore, rumour has it the Colombian international could request to return to parent club Monaco in January, having begun his year-long Stamford Bridge loan as back-up to Costa – much to the disappointment of his grandmother.
