According to reports from AS yesterday afternoon, Aston Villa have emerged as potential candidates to sign in-demand Real Madrid forward Jese.

The 22 year-old forward, capable of playing on either flank or as a front-man, made his debut for Los Blancos in 2011 and has since produced a decent return of twelve goals in 59 appearances. But he’s been limited almost exclusively to substitute outings following an ACL injury in March 2014 and has resultantly seen just 134 minutes’ worth of La Liga action this season.

Long-term admirers Arsenal and Chelsea were both linked with the Spain U21 earlier this week, after agent Giles Carvajal told Spanish publication Marca; “He needs to play more, that’s the best way to keep his spirits up. The club will have to make a decision. He’s training well, he’s strong and has to seize the opportunity when it comes.”

It has since been suggested the Gunners are considering a loan bid for the January transfer window. But it appears they and the Blues may now face a new rival in the hunt for the 5 foot 10 attacker’s signature – Premier League relegation battlers Aston Villa.

According to AS, the Birmingham outfit made inquiries into Jese’s availability in August and ‘would be expected to pursue the striker’s signature if he became available’. The Spanish publication also claim Napoli and Inter Milan have been tracking the Spaniard’s situation for some time.
