According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday afternoon, Chelsea are hoping to hijack Manchester United’s pursuit of 15 year-old winger Tahith Chong.

The afro-haired teenager currently plies his trade with Feyenoord and is one of Dutch football’s most exciting youth prospects, but will be allowed to leave the Rotterdam outfit when he turns 16 in December.

Earlier this month, The Daily Mail revealed that the young forward, who can also play as a striker, impressed Red Devils scouts during the Premier Cup tournament held at Carrington, United’s training complex, in August.

According to The Sun, he’s already held talks regarding a potential move to Old Trafford and has been invited to train with the United squad.

But The Star claim Premier League rivals Chelsea are now circling and ‘ready to thrash out a deal’ for the Netherlands U16 international.

Chong would join a youth set-up in west London that has claimed the U21 Premier League title, the UEFA Youth Cup and the FA Youth Cup three times since 2012.
