According to reports from The Telegraph this morning, Manchester United could trigger Antoine Griezmann’s £56.5million release clause today as they desperately attempt to make one more signing before the summer transfer window slams shut at 6pm.
The 24 year-old joined Atletico Madrid only twelve months ago but last season’s return of 25 goals in 52 appearances has turned plenty of heads throughout Europe. He’s started the 2015/16 campaign equally brightly; bagging one goal and two assists in two appearances to help secure the Mattress Makers consecutive victories in La Liga.

Manchester United and Chelsea were both linked to the France international earlier this summer, whilst Juventus and Bayern Munich are believed to be fellow admirers.
Griezmann was back on the Old Trafford radar last month after the Red Devils missed out on former Barcelona star Pedro – now of Premier League champions Chelsea – and according to The Telegraph, they could yet launch a bid for the winger-forward before the 6pm deadline.
It will have to be a rather substantial offer, however. In August, Atletico raised the former Real Sociedad talisman’s release clause to a whopping €80million.
