According to reports from The Express this morning, West Bromwich Albion are expected to complete a deal for Liverpool defender Jose Enrique before the summer transfer window’s 6pm deadline later today.
The left-back has made nearly 100 appearances for the Mersey outfit across all competitions but only 18 have come during the last two campaigns amid a spate of recurring injury problems.
With the Reds now well endowed at No.3 through Alberto Moreno and summer signing Joe Gomez, the Spaniard is surplus to requirements at Anfield and revealed last month that he’s been made to train away from the rest of the first team by manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Express reported on Sunday that the Baggies were close to an agreement with Liverpool regarding the 29 year-old’s departure and they now claim a deal is expected to be completed before the cut-off at 6pm today.
Meanwhile, Liverpool youngster Tiago Ilori could join Sunderland on loan for the rest of the season.
