According to reports from Manchester Evening News yesterday evening, Spurs striker Harry Kane has distanced himself from links with Manchester United by insisting he’s a ‘Tottenham boy’.

The 22 year-old was a phenomenon for the Lilywhites last season, emerging from the peripheries of the squad to become the top-scoring Englishman in the Premier League with 21 goals in 34 appearances.

That saw the 6 foot 2 centre-forward claim the PFA Young Player of the Year award as well as a spot in the PFA Team of the Year – and he also netted just 80 seconds into his England debut against Lithuania in March.

Amid their search for added firepower, United allegedly launched a £40million bid for the 6 foot 2 striker in June and made a series of ‘discrete enquiries‘ throughout the summer transfer window.

But according to Manchester Evening News, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had no intention of cashing in on the club’s prized asset this summer, whilst Kane has also sought to distance himself from rumours of an Old Trafford switch.

“I am a Tottenham boy,” he said in the build up to England’s Euro 2016 Qualifier against San Marino tomorrow evening. “I have grown up with the club. I know the club and I love the club. We have got a great team, a young team that is only going to get better and better. I am happy. I am happy to be playing.

“That is the most important thing for me this season – to be playing week in week out and getting game time. We have a great manager and staff at Spurs and I can really see us just pushing on.

“I am excited for the future. A new stadium as well. Everything just seems to be going in the right direction so I am excited,” he added.
