Berahino

According to reports from Sky Sports this morning, Tottenham Hotspur are wary of launching a third bid for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino and could pursue alternative targets instead.

The 21 year-old’s future with the Midlands outfit has been open to speculation for some time, following a 14-goal haul in the Premier League last season and persistent rumours of interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur throughout the summer.

He’s already made a transfer request to leave the Hawthorns, which although rejected by manager Tony Pulis saw the Burundi-born attacker dropped for West Brom’s Premier League clash with Chelsea last Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Lilywhites have already seen two bids rejected by the Baggies – the latest allegedly worth around £22million – and had been expected to launch a third at some point this week.

But according to Sky Sports, White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino is reluctant to sanction an offer that would meet West Brom’s £30million valuation as the club’s hierarchy continue to play hardball, chairman Jeremy Peace telling supporters in an official club statement this week; “the sale of the player is not on our agenda.

Likewise, the Baggies are displeased with Tottenham’s practices in the market, knowing that their first offer of £18million directly lead to Berahino’s transfer request – whilst Federico Fazio’s failed move the Hawthorns may have further exacerbated tensions. Resultantly, the deal is becoming a little too toxic for all involved.

That could be a huge boost to the transfer efforts of Manchester United, however. Despite Louis van Gaal’s recent insistence otherwise, the common consensus is that the Dutchman will attempt to add another striker to his squad before the transfer window closes and reports yesterday revealed that he’s considering a late bid for Berahino.

Interestingly, the England U21 exploded onto the scene in 2013 with a stunning winning strike against United at Old Trafford – his first ever goal in the Premier League and the Red Devils’ first home defeat under the much-maligned David Moyes.

Whether the Old Trafford outfit are prepared to spend £30million on him remains to be seen. But according to talkSPORT, they’ve set aside a £100million war chest for the final six days of the transfer window.

There is no way in the wide world that this guy is worth £30,000,000 so pack it in Levy and let Man Utd get taken on , we could get a World Class player for that who is a well proven goal scorer .

That is why Spurs will never be a top four club, unwilling to spend £30 million on players.Levy should go, give somebody with true ambition a chance, then we could get back to where we want to and should be,chalanging for honours. From a 60 year supporter.
