According to reports from The Express yesterday morning, Manchester United are prepared to offer Bayern Munich a Premier League record transfer fee for star forward Thomas Muller.

The 25 year-old is one of the most formidable and complete attacking threats in world football, famed for his industry, versatility and consistent supply of goals.

He’s amassed 123 goals in 306 appearances since his Bavarians debut in 2008 – including two goals in his first Bundesliga appearance of the season against Hamburg on Friday night.

The German international has also played a pivotal role in his country’s escapades at the last two World Cups, picking up the Golden Boot in 2010 and netting five times as Die Mannschaft lifted the international title in Brazil last summer.

According to The Express, the Red Devils have already seen two bids rejected for the 6 foot 1 forward amid their search for added firepower, the latest being worth around £60million.

But they’re prepared to fight for his signature until the summer window closes and allegedly willing to cough up a Premier League record transfer fee – eclipsing their £59.7million spend on Angel Di Maria last summer.

Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, however, is adamant Muller will stay at the Allianz Arena telling reporters; “The Bundesliga has to be careful not to fall further behind. We would be out of our minds to sell Muller.”
