According to reports from The Express this morning, Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan is on the verge of joining Juventus in a £24.6million deal.
The Argentina international is widely regarded as one of the biggest talents outside of Europe’s five leading top flights, having played a vital role in Benfica claiming back-to-back Primeira Liga titles and reaching consecutive Europa Leage finals over the last three seasons.
He’s been linked with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United this summer and the latter club particularly since missing out on former Barcelona star Pedro, who officially joined the Premier League champions last week.

But according to The Express, who cite reports from Portuguese publication A Bola, the 27 year-old is now on the verge of completing a £24.6million move to Juventus.
We’ve seen false dawns regarding Gaitan’s future before. Earlier this summer, for example, it was alleged the winger’s agent had arrived in London to thrash out a deal with Manchester United.
But Juventus are known to be in the market for a new No.10 – which has seen them linked with Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and Chelsea’s Oscar this summer – and Gaitan, although primarily considered a wide attacking threat, has the potential to fill that void.
