Kevin de Bruyne

According to reports from The Guardian this morning, Manchester City have launched a £47million bid for Wolfsburg talisman Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgium international struggled to impress during his two years at Chelsea, instead finding himself loaned out to Genk and Werder Bremen.

But he’s proved an absolute revelation since signing for Wolfsburg for an £18million fee in January 2014, finishing last season with 10 goals and 20 assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances – the most set-ups of any player in Europe’s five leading top flights.

The Metro believe Manchester United are keen to bring the 24 year-old back to the Premier League this summer but local rivals City have proved far more proactive in courting his signature thus far.

The Etihad outfit saw a £35million bid knocked back last week and according to The Guardian, have now returned with an improved offer – £40million plus £7million in add-ons.

That would take their summer spending to around the £120million mark. But Wolfsburg sporting Director Klaus Allofs remains adamant De Bruyne won’t be sold this summer, recently dubbing him ‘unsellable’.
