Pedro - £7million

According to reports from The Express this afternoon, Liverpool are on the verge of hijacking Manchester United’s £22million move for Barcelona winger Pedro.

The 27 year-old has claimed every accolade going during his spells with the Catalans and the Spanish national team, winning five La Liga titles, three Champions League titles, the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship.

Despite penning extended terms until 2019 in June, the 51-cap international is expected to leave the Nou Camp this summer after slumping behind Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez in the pecking order last season.

That new contract included a £22million release clause and Pedro has since admitted to receiving offers to leave the European champions.

Manchester United were believed to be on the verge of completing a deal for the 5 foot 6 attacker after entering the race last week. But according to The Express, who cite Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, their bitter rivals Liverpool are about to hijack the move after making formal contact with Barcelona.

The British tabloid goes one step further, claiming Pedro would prefer a move to Merseyside over Old Trafford despite the absence of Champions League football next season.

I would be very surprised if he really does prefer Liverpool over United. There are only two things that make me even consider this a possibility. One is he will probably play every week for Liverpool. Secondly, he has probably been talking to Luis Suarez, without getting too close of course.
