According to reports from The Daily Mail yesterday afternoon, Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is set to sign an improved contract at the Bernabeu.

Ramos’ future with Los Blancos has been shrouded in serious doubt ever since Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Majo revealed he was offered the 2010 World Cup winner as an ‘electoral asset’ for the club’s ballot earlier this month.

That lead to a series of bids from Manchester United – the latest being worth around £32million – whilst local rivals Manchester City were also linked with the Spain international last week. Some reports even claimed Ramos had already agreed personal terms with the Old Trafford outfit.

But former Chelsea and Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, now in the Real Madrid hot seat, insisted last week that the 29 year-old would ‘100%‘ not be sold this summer.

And according to The Daily Mail, Ramos is now set to sign an improved contract with the Spanish capital outfit following a crisis meeting with club president Florentino Perez in China.

The 6 foot 1 defender is expected to sign a new deal upon returning to Madrid after the end of Real’s pre-season tour and the new wage package will likely see Ramos take home around £260k per-week.
