According to reports from Mirror Football yesterday evening, Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao is willing to take a significant pay cut to join Premier League champions Chelsea this summer.

The Colombian international has just come to the end of a disappointing loan spell at Old Trafford, managing just four goals in 29 appearances across all competitions, and the Red Devils revealed last week that they won’t be signing him permanently – as reported by BBC Sport.

But parent club Monaco are desperate to get their club record £54million signing – who currently takes home £265k per-week – off the wage bill as they battle UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

As This Is Futbol revealed last week, the 29 year-old is reportedly ‘desperate’ to join Chelsea, who tried to sign the 5 foot 10 striker in summer 2013. The rumour undoubtedly took basis in Blues manager Jose Mourinho and Falcao sharing the same agent – the world-renowned Jorge Mendes.

And reports yesterday suggest Falcao’s move to west London has just become considerably likelier. The former Porto and Atletico Madrid star, who netted 142 in 178 appearances for both clubs combined, is willing to take a considerable pay-cut to join the Premier League kings this summer.

Falcao also wants his future determined before the Copa America kicks off next week – which could give Chelsea the upper hand in negotiations.
