According to reports from Sky Sports this afternoon, Bournemouth have agreed a club-record deal to sign Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings.

The 22 year-old has just come to the end of an impressive season at Portman Road, claiming the Championship’s Player of the Month award for September and finishing up with four assists in 42 league appearances.

That saw the 6 foot 5 left-back linked to Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea ahead of the January transfer window, as reported by The Daily Mail in December.

But it appears to be the English top flight’s latest inductees – second tier champions Bournemouth – who have won the race for the former Chippenham Town youngster’s signature.

According to The Guardian, The Cherries have landed Mings in an £8million deal, the largest transfer spend in the club’s history and a £7,990,000 profit on the Tractor Boys’ original investment from December 2012.

Mings is yet to agree personal terms or pass a medical – but the deal is widely expected to go through with relative ease.
