According to reports from Sky Sports this morning, Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin hopes to conclude his long-awaited departure from the club before pre-season training starts next week.

The France international has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most formidable enforcers since the Saints’ top flight ascension in summer 2012, last season averaging the second-most tackles per match, 3.7, of any player in the division.

The 6 foot 2 midfielder has been stalling on a five-year contract extension at St. Mary’s for some time amid continuous links to Arsenal and Manchester United, and manager Ronald Koeman has already admitted he could force a move away this summer.

And according to Sky Sports, the 25 year-old is hoping to reveal his fate before next week, when pre-season training starts on the South Coast.

Talking to France Bleu Alsace radio station, Scheniderlin remarked; “The negotiations are ongoing and should be completed in the coming days. Hopefully before the resumption of [Southampton’s pre-season] training next week.”

It’s believed Southampton will demand £25million for the former Strasbourg youngster, who has been with the Saints for seven seasons, spanning spells in League One, the Championship and the top flight.
