Prepare your Arsene Wenger hate mail for next season

According to reports from The Express this afternoon, Arsenal have launched a shock £8.5million bid for Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda.

The attacking midfielder is one of the more noteworthy talents from their academy ranks and has amassed an impressive haul of 25 goals in 42 appearances across the youth levels for Belgium, earning comparisons with PFA Player of the Year Eden Hazard.

Despite penning extended terms until 2019 in March, however, the son of the former Zambia international Charly Musonda Senior admitted in May that he could be forced to seek opportunities abroad to find regular football.

As This Is Futbol revealed earlier this week, Arsenal and Manchester City are both known admirers of the 18 year-old, and some sources claim Chelsea would be prepared to cash-in on him this summer should an interested party meet their valuation.

And according to The Express, who cite French publication Foot Mercato, the Gunners have now acted upon that news by launching an £8.5million bid.

The player’s father declared earlier this month that his son should leave Stamford Bridge, telling reporters; “Charly must absolutely leave Chelsea and, since January, Monaco have been trying to sign him.”
