According to reports from BBC Sport this morning, Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Manchester City midfielder James Milner, subject to a medical.

The England international was set to enter the summer as one of the Premier League’s most sought-after stars, boasting an eclectic mix of versatility, athleticism, quality and experience and available on a free transfer, with his Etihad contract coming to an end.

But it now appears Milner has ended his transfer saga before the official opening of the summer window.

The 29 year-old has been on the radars of Arsenal and Liverpool for some time, as This Is Futbol revealed last month, whilst reports earlier this week suggested Manchester United had also entered the race for his signature.

But reports on Tuesday claimed the Anfield outfit were preparing to announce a deal for the former Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Leeds United man ‘within days’, and that prophecy has now come into fruition.

The length and value of Milner’s Liverpool contract is yet to be confirmed. But according to The Daily Mail, he rejected an extension worth £165k per-week at Manchester City.
