Today’s early kick-off in the Premier League (12.45pm) sees Everton play hosts to Sunderland at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have enjoyed the better rub of the green in previous encounters between the two top flight sides, winning three of their last six against Sunderland and drawing once, to produce an aggregate scoreline of 8-4 in the Merseyside outfit’s favour.

But coming to the end of a disappointing campaign, eleventh-place Everton might struggle for motivation this afternoon with only the pride of finishing in the Premier League’s top half left to play for.

The Black Cats, on the other hand, are amid a relegation dogfight. They’re currently one point off safety in 18th place, albeit with one game in hand over their divisional rivals, so a win today could prove vital to retaining their Premier League status.
