According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday afternoon, Marseille president Vincente Labrune has confirmed star forward Andre Ayew will be moving to the Premier League this summer.

The 25 year-old boasts 58 goals in 188 appearances for L’OM, including eight strikes in Ligue 1 this season, and also claimed the Goal King (top scorer) award at the 2015 African Cup of Nations.

But the Ghana international is set to leave the Stade Velodrome outfit this summer upon the expiration of his contract. Marseille have fallen on tough times financially and can only offer Ayew a reduction in his current salary, which he’s already rejected.

That’s lead many to speculate a move to the Premier League; a particularly direct forward through his power and pace, the Marseille man is perfect for the English game.

As This Is Futbol revealed in April, Swansea City are already believed to have offered Ayew a contract for next season, but The Star list Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United as his likeliest suitors.

And club president Vincente Labrune has now confirmed the 5 foot 9 winger-forward will likely join the English top flight in the coming window.

“We can’t keep Ayew,” Labrune said, as quoted by The Star. “He is a very important player for OM but we can’t offer him the kind of money that English clubs can offer.

“The French financial system is complicated and we can’t offering him an equivalent salary to what he can earn in England. And equally, we can’t ask Ayew, who we love and is an icon for our team, to accept a lower salary.

“That makes no sense so unfortunately he is going to quit the club and we hope he has a great career that he deserves in England or somewhere else,” he added.
