According to reports from London 24 this morning, Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has admitted negotiations to extend his contract at the San Siro have hit a stumbling block.

Despite Inter’s struggles this season the 22 year-old is enjoying a fantastic campaign in front of goal, netting 22 times in 42 appearances across all competitions. That includes 18 goals in Serie A, which has left Icardi joint-second in the division’s scoring charts behind Juventus assassin Carlos Tevez.

Although his current contract isn’t set to expire until 2018, the Nerazzurri management are keen to tie the Argentina international down to extended terms, amid rumours Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United could all launch bids for him this summer.

The Express linked the Premier League trio to Icardi in February, upon news he’d agreed to enter negotiations over a new San Siro deal.

But today’s revelations suggest the deal is still far from completion, with the former Sampdoria striker admitting talks have hit a rough patch.

Talking at a charity match organised by Inter legend Javier Zanetti, Icardi said; “It’s at a difficult point, but today is not about that.

“The people of San Siro love me, and I respect them so much. I try to make them happy in every game,” he added.
