A Chelsea transfer worth betting on

Antoine Griezmann (2)

If there’s one transfer This Is Futbol recommends putting a few bob on this summer, it’s Chelsea’s rumoured swoop for Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.

The France international moved to Vincente Calderon only last summer in a £24million deal, but his sensational return since of 25 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions has reignited interest from his former Premier League suitors.

Of course, it’s worth checking the best odds first – using sites like www.bestbettingsites.co.uk, filled with impartial bookie reviews, offer comparisons, and betting app test drives.

But This Is Futbol will certainly be having a flutter; after all, the west Londoners have developed quite the relationship with the Mattress Makers in the transfer market over the last few years.

Blues No.1 Thibaut Courtois emerged as one of the top goalkeepers in world football during his three-term loan at Vincente Calderon, helping Diego Simeone’s side clinch their first La Liga title since 1996 last season, and during summer 2014 Chelsea paid top dollar for two of Atletico’s biggest stars – leading goalscorer Diego Costa and £15.8million left-back Filipe Luis.

With a £43.5million release clause in Griezmann’s contract, there’s not much Simeone can do to stop the 25 year-old joining the Premier League champions this summer, so he’ll be keen to get around the negotiating table and squeeze something a little extra out of the deal – potentially Filipe Luis, whom the Spanish side are allegedly keen to re-sign after managing just eight league starts during his inaugural Blues campaign.

That makes a summer move for Greizmann seem all the more likely, not to mention the fact the France international has excelled under Simeone’s hard-working, well-organised and pragmatic style of football not to dissimilar to Mourinho’s mantra at Chelsea.

So find the best price online and have a flutter – before the winger-forward signs on the dotted line!

I had no idea Atletico were called the ‘Mattress Makers’ until I read ThisIsFutbol.
