Earlier this week, The Daily Mail revealed Arsenal’s plans to bid for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech this summer, should he decide to leave Stamford Bridge after ten years.

Indeed, the 32 year-old is on the verge of lifting his fourth Premier League title with the Blues, alongside four FA Cups and the 2012 Champions League title, but has been demoted to second-choice this year behind the supremely talented and considerably younger Thibaut Courtois – despite a perfect return of five clean sheets in five PL appearances this term.

He’s widely expected to leave this summer and Arsenal’s chances were boosted by news that Chelsea Chairman Roman Abramovich will give the Czech international full autonomy over deciding his next club – even if it is one of the west London outfit’s closest rivals, as reported by Mirror Football.

Reports yesterday evening however – once again, courtesy of Mirror Football – claim fellow north London side Tottenham are planning to push in on Arsenal’s deal for the veteran goalkeeper.

They fear losing Hugo Lloris to PSG this summer, as This Is Futbol informed you earlier this week, and view Cech as the ideal replacement. His £10million valuation certainly isn’t out of their financial reach – but would the Chelsea icon join a club without Champions League football?
