According to reports from The Express this morning, Manchester United are ready to revive their interest in Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic – who Liverpool were lining up as a potential replacement for Steven Gerrard.

Vibrant spells with Lyon and Giallorossi have seen the 25 year-old emerge as one of the most exciting playmakers in world football over the last few years, this term bagging four goals and six assists in 27 Serie A appearances whilst creating 2.1 chances per-match.

The central midfielder has been on the Anfield radar for a few months as Brendan Rodgers considers potential successors to his MLS-bound skipper – and Roma have allegedly informed the Merseysiders Pjanic will be available for £37million this summer.

But The Express now claim Man United are likely to rival any bid.

They’d previously targeted midfield partner Kevin Strootman, with Louis van Gaal admitting his interest in the tough-tackling Dutchman last summer – as reported by The Telegraph in July – but they’re now keen on the Bosnian international instead.

Meanwhile, one of Liverpool’s other summer targets has been included in Manchester United’s ten-man summer clearout.
